NIST AI RMF 100-1 is now Active in all Environments (5-30-2025)
We are proud to announce the NIST AI RMF 100-1 framework is now active and ready to use.
The NIST AI RMF 100-1 is the outline for conducting assessments of AI of all kinds. It includes the content from the original published rule including all supporting content to not only provide the control, but also the supporting content to understand how to interpret and implement the required security to meet the controls.
In addition to the framework, an assessment and task pack were also published. The assessment and task pack are built off the framework and designed in a one to one format. The one to one format includes for the assessment, one question that maps directly to one control in the framework. Additionally, the task pack works the same. One task maps to each control to ensure consistent results.
At this time, the NIST AI RMF 100-1 is not included in Harmony mappings, but plans are in the works to add this to Harmony in the future.
Finally, an additional official version (also known as a profile) of the NIST AI RMF is in the process of being completed and is in the QA process. The profile is the NIST AI RMF 600-1 and is a profile for assessing Generative AI (GAI) scenarios. This profile will include the framework, assessment, and task pack as well. Harmony will come in the future.
This AI framework will help companies where the ISO 42001 AI framework may not work for them.
